Lee in the News, a sea breeze and a Proposed Casino

So June comes to a sticky end as the high temps and the humidity continue in Cyprus. Last night we went in search of a sea breeze and we drove over to Melanda beach. This was the perfect place to have a quiet, relaxing meal as the sunset over the beautiful bay.

Rob's Cousin, Lee,  made the UK News this week when he was named among the Rising Stars of Welsh businesses - ambitious, entrepreneurial and driven to create.

This week Cyprus signed an agreement to build the largest casino in Europe. The proposed casino will include 136 gambling tables and 1,200 gambling machines, while the adjoining luxury hotel will have a 500-room capacity, a health spa and 1,500-seat concert hall.

Burning Rubber in Pissouri

On a warm Summer's day, Mandy decided it was time to go her first ever bike ride. Firstly she got on Bryan's Lambretta scooter for a whiz around the village.
Mandy then hopped on Arthur's Harley Davidson for another spin around the village. Mandy thoroughly enjoyed the experience, not to sure about Bryan and  Arthur's thoughts.

Mandala Painting, Hillview quiz and Rumtoff

This week Mandy attended  the first mandala painting class at Platea Tavern, a number of ladies from the village turned up to try their hand at this craft and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

Friday evening saw us stroll over to the Hillview restaurant for Tri annual quiz, there was a great turnout of over 80 people split into 12 teams. Our team "The magnificent seven", was not so magnificent ending up in 6th position.
The setting in the Hillview was superb as a pink moon rose above the Akrotiri coast  as we enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by George and his team.

On Saturday Mandy prepared her Romtoff, a selection of Strawberries, cherries, plums and apricots soaking in a bottle of Spicy Rum.
It was then put in the fridge to ferment until Christmas.....Unless I decide on a cheeky taste before then.

The 80's Agenda and Cardiff Bay

On a beautiful Summer's evening we wandered down to the Pissouri amphitheatre for a night of 80's music. The night started with the girl trio "Soda Pop" who soon got the crowd  up on their feet dancing. Then the rock group 80's Agenda took to the stage and gave a great performance, playing the hits of the 80's.

There was a lovely carnival atmosphere in the amphitheatre and some real characters in fancy dress.

Meanwhile back in Cardiff Bay, Lisa reported that there was a superb
atmosphere in and around the City  before the Champion League final.

Local Apricots and Kim's house in Pachna

This week Mandy popped down to the Foutas family farm to buy a few kilos of their locally grown apricots, returning home, Mandy got busy making apricot cakes and chutney, both were delicious.

On a very warm day we made our way up to the village of Pachna along with Mike and Tina. We called in to see our friend Kim who is refurbishing an old village house. We had not been up to see the house for about 12 months and the improvements made  were clear to see.

After a cooling drink on Kim's new terrace, we made our way up the hill to the Linos tavern for a lovely lunch on their veranda overlooking the Troodos mountains.
