Lisa's Travel Adventure 2010

4. Lisa moved onto to the West Indian Island of Trinidad to attend the wedding of her friends Sam and Jerome, but first things first, she attended the Hen night.

We both wish the Newlyweds a long and Happy marriage,  we remember Sam coming to our leaving party before we came to Cyprus.

Kolios Winery

On a beautiful Sunday morning here in Cyprus we took a drive up to the Kolios winery to stock up for the upcoming festive season. The winery is in the village of Ayios Fotios which is a 20 minute drive North of Paphos.

We then made our way down to the coastal village of Mandria for a lovely Sunday lunch straight off the grill.

From Mandria we took the short drive over to Timi beach to watch the sunset over the Mediterranean sea, a great way to end a cracking day out.

Of course there is always one who'll want that extra piece of Cake !....How long can one person's birthday last ?

Steve's Birthday

After Months of Preparation and planning, Steve's (I don't want any fuss) Birthday finally arrived... I have feeling that this could turn into a saga.

Stage 1.  Cake, Champagne and prezzies.
Mandy baked a lovely cake and Mary provided a bottle of bubbly as the burfday boy opened his pressies.

Stage 2. A night out.
We popped out to a couple of the local bars in the village and the birthday boy enjoyed some good natured banter, especially from the "Blue Noses"

Stage 3. Steak and Ale pie.
Mandy cooked a superb pie that the birthday boy requested, the meal was finished off with homemade blackberry cheesecake and Irish coffees.

A Hike to Aphrodite Hills & Curry at "Popodoms"

Saturday started off with a good hike from Pissouri to Aphrodite Hills, the trail crossed over Cape Aspro with its superb views of the coastline and dramatic views of the cliffs as they sweep down some 300 meters to the sea.

The path reveals some strange rock formations and for those brave enough (or foolhardy) some unusual photo opportunities  arise.

After 4 hours of hiking we returned to the Pissouriana pub for a well earned pint and to watch an entertaining football match between Aston Villa and Man U that ended 2-2. We were then joined by the ladies and along with Jo and Warren we made our way over to"Popodoms" in Paphos for a lovely curry.

Chris King as Elvis at the Hillview

Chris King brought his impressive Elvis tribute act to The Two Friends Taverna in Pissouri. A good crowd turned out to watch the show and their was some good interaction between "Elvis" and members of the audience.

A hike from Kyrena beach to Paramali

Now that the weather has got slightly cooler here in Cyprus it is time to put back on the old hiking boots. We started off with a walk over the cliff tops from Kyrena beach to Paramali.

We managed to see a Grifffon vulture being chased away by by other birds from the nesting sites. After a good 3 hour hike we returned to Pissouri for rabbit stew washed down with Cobra beer.

Bonfire & Fireworks at Epi Garrison

On Guy Fawkes night we went over to the Episkopi Garrison  to watch the spectacular firework display on Lemmings Beach.  A large crowd turned out on a mild evening to enjoy the atmosphere and see the lighting of the traditional bonfire.
