Mandy’s birthday bash

On a cold January evening, Mandy and I along with 15 friends went down to the Yialos restaurant in Pissouri bay to celebrate Mandy's birthday.

The Yialios is regarded as one of the finest fish restaurants in the area and all who attended agreed that the food, service and atmosphere were excellent.

We ended the evening by calling in The Red Fever for a few late night drinks.

Happy Birthday Mandy !!

Building work.

As soon as I said to Mandy, "well at least we can be sure that we living in the heart of the village, no one will build in front of us", I knew I'd eat my words.

The New Year brought a Bulldozer, early morning noise and clouds of dust as they demolished an old house opposite us and a new house is being built.

Buffet with a view.

Our friends Wilf and Rona invited us along with a few friends to a New Year buffet at their house.

The house stands high on a hill at the far end of the village and has commanding views stretching from the Troodos mountains to the Akrotiri peninsula.

2008 A New Year, A New currency

A new year and a new currency comes into effect in Cyprus, out goes the Cypriot pound and in comes the Euro.

There is a lot of discussion on the Island about the pros and cons of the New currency...Time will tell.

Goodbye to 2007

Mandy attended the Christening of local twin babies at St Andrews Church. She thoroughly enjoyed her first Cypriot Christening.

We decided to end the year by spending a quiet New years Eve with Friends Steve, Mary, Matt, Sue and baby Luke. Steve cooked up a marvellous Turkey dinner.
At midnight we watched the firework show provided at the Columbia Hotel.

May we take this chance to wish all our visitors to the Blog a very Happy and Healthy New Year.
